And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. Revelation 6:9-11
The fifth seal of Revelation chapter 6 occurs (is occurring) as a conversation between those who have already laid down their lives for the Word of God and God, Himself. The sure means of verifying the timing of the opening of this seal, the fifth of seven, is to be one of their fellow servants and brethren that are killed as they were.
John was instructed to write the following to the messenger of the assembly of Zmurna (Smyrna):
Be afraid in none of those things that you will suffer; behold The Devil will throw some of you into prison to be tested and you will have suffering for ten days; be faithful unto death, and I will give you a crown of life. Revelation 2:10
Don’t kid yourselves; do not be deceived: this is coming.
Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with the Messiah for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4
